We have heard it so many times about how the Angels have kept Mike Trout from winning even more MVPs than he currently has since they don’t make the playoffs. Just to address that point quickly, that argument makes no sense, the award should be given to a player for individual achievement, not team achievement.
And, wouldn’t being on a below average team make it even harder on that individual?
Anyways, will Mike Trout be making his 2nd playoff series appearance in 2020? The Ventric says YES. At the end of the day, the shortened season helps out the mediocre teams since there is more variance. We believe that the pitching for the Angels is just mediocre enough to be bailed out by their stacked lineup a sufficient amount of times to actually get them into the playoffs.
Who can stop Mike Trout and the Angels from making it into the playoffs? 3 teams are the ones to watch out for. The Cleveland Indians, Tampa Bay Rays, and Oakland Athletics. Whoever wins 35 games should make it to the playoffs but the disadvantage here goes to the Angels and the Athletics.
Both of them being in the same division and playing for a playoff spot means that their games should end up being more competitive than the other divisions. Not to mention, the Angels and Athletics will have to face the Dodgers and Astros.
The Rays have their work cut out for them too since they will have to go up against the Yankees, Braves, and Nationals. The key there being that they are inter-league series against the Braves and Nationals so there will be fewer games against those teams.
The Angels and Mike Trout are not likely to make it to the playoffs but this year just seems crazy enough to where Mike Trout will finally be on baseball’s biggest stage come October.
