Usually a sneaker has one release date but things have been a bit different lately. Due to COVID, there have been logistical issues when it comes to making sure shoes get delivered to retailers on time.
Take for example the Air Jordan 1 Retro ‘Satin Snake’. The original release date for the ‘Satin Snake’ was August 6, 2020. But shipments were delayed to retail stores because of logistical issues at Nike.
This makes things interesting for resellers because it lets them see if the sneakers might be worth more than retail. The ‘Satin Snake’ release has a retail price of $170 but StockX has an average sale price of $310.
The shipment delays are probably causing headaches for the retail stores but they are giving the regular consumer a chance. The SNKRS app is basically impossible to purchase sneakers on so these retail releases might make it easier.
If anything, this makes the sneakers more desirable. Shiekh is currently holding an online raffle for their own ‘Satin Snake’ release. Other retail stores may be announcing their own plans for the ‘Satin Snake’ release soon but for now, Shiekh seems to be the only one.
