The day to honor Kobe has finally arrived. Although many of us have been honoring him in our own ways, it’s nice to have a day dedicated to the late, great Kobe Bryant.
There have been releases scheduled throughout the entire week but today is the only day that there will be two releases. One of them is another colorway of the Nike Kobe V Protro and the other is a Lakers jersey.
Name: Nike Kobe V Protro ‘5X Champ’
SKU: CD4991 500
Colorway: Court Purple / Black – University Gold
Release Date: August 24, 2020
Retail Price: $180
Estimated Resale Price: $300
The ‘5X Champ’ is honestly one of my favorite Nike Kobe V Protro colorways. It embodies the Black Mamba spirit so well and it encapsulates his time with the Lakers with the perfect mixture of gold and purple.
The sole also features an icy blue finish which elevates the style to the next level. One nice little touch as well comes in the snake-like print throughout the entire sneaker.
This will be the second Nike Kobe V Protro release for Black Mamba week, the first being the ‘Big Stage‘ release that came out on August 23, 2020.
Back Chest
Name: Lakers City Edition ‘Black Mamba’
SKU: DJ0471 010
Colorway: Black / Gold
Release Date: August 24, 2020
Retail Price: $120
Estimated Resale Price: $220
If you only ever own one basketball jersey in your life, it has to be this one. The history and the significance behind this jersey is second to none. Keeping with the snake theme, the entire jersey features snake-like stitching that adds texture to the jersey.
The black and gold colorway with purple accents all compliment each other really well. And everyone has their favorite Kobe era, the 8 or 24 were different entities that had their own persona.
The Lakers City Edition ‘Black Mamba’ jersey features both of Kobe’s numbers, 8 on the chest and 24 on the back. This is actually the first time that Nike will feature both of Kobe’s numbers on the City Edition jersey.
Both numbers have been retired by the Los Angeles Lakers so the numbers 8 and 24 will forever symbolize Kobe Bryant.
SNKRS is the place to go for these releases. You can also find the ‘5X Champ’ release online at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Footlocker, and Eastbay.
