Where to sit, what to eat, how to enjoy Dodger Stadium the way it was meant to be enjoyed

Dodger Stadium is one of the most iconic stadiums in MLB along with Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. The construction of Dodger Stadium is a relatively sad memory for Mexican Americans. The Battle of Chavez Ravine still haunts many living in the area.

Chavez Ravine is the hill that Dodger Stadium is located on and the Dodgers were able to make this place their ome by forcibly removing the predominant Mexican American population that resided there. There can be no excuse for this but there is not much that can be done so many years later.

Nostalgia Key at Dodger Stadium

Dodger Stadium is visually appealing all around but once you get inside, it is rather underwhelming. My main issue with the stadium was center field and the walkways back there that seems very dated. They also do not have any escalators inside the stadium.

Watching a game at Dodger Stadium can be more of a workout than most people realize. If you don’t park right next to where you’re seats are then you’re in for lots of stair climbing or hill walking. There are a few escalators outside of the stadium but it is still not nearly enough.

Greatest Views in Baseball

Dodger Stadium lacks innovativeness and has almost no modern day feel to it. It is definitely nostalgic however. Once you’re in your seats, your view is second to none around baseball. The atmosphere at Dodger games is also something that is to be admired. They have a passionate fan base and an exciting team that always puts on a show.

When you’re planning on going to a Dodger game, always get prepaid parking. You’ll end up saving around $10 per game if you do this. Also try to arrive around 30 minutes - 1 hr early to avoid traffic going into the stadium.

The best place to sit to get the best view is in the Reserve Level behind home plate. You’ll get a great view of the field and the hills in the background. Left Field Pavilion will be the most exciting atmosphere but you won’t have much elbow space since the seats are benches.

It might even be in your best interest to get there even earlier so you can get a ball during warmups. Left Field Pavilion will always be an exciting place to set up camp during batting practice. Players throw up balls and there is always a chance a player will hit the ball in that area so make sure to always be alert.

One other place to hover around before the game are the bullpens. Pitching coaches and bullpen catchers will most likely throw you a ball if you politely ask while they’re walking by.

Looking for something to eat at the game? They offer many different foods at the stadium but you should definitely stay away from the higher priced menu items because you will always be disappointed. A simple Dodger Dog and ice cream is all you need and you’ll find many kiosks around the stadium that sell this.

You can also bring in your own food if you bring it in a small clear bag but most people choose to buy at the stadium. Simply bringing in some candy will be worth the trouble though.

Honestly, you don’t even have to leave your seat since there will be workers going around selling you the food but it’s always nice to stretch your legs. The one thing that you cannot do anything about is the traffic to get out. Unless you absolutely run to your car, you’ll be there for around 20 - 30 minutes trying to get out.

This isn’t always recommended either. You can have a really good chance to get a ball if you immediately hover around the bullpen area after the game and ask for one as the players and coaches make their way to the dugout.

When you leave the stadium you will have many options on what to eat around the stadium. Shake Shack is always a popular choice but the most popular is simply stopping at a taco stand. At the game, look up taco shops on Yelp and go to whichever one looks best to you.

I would list them but there are so many and every one has a different favorite so it would be pointless. If you don’t feel like deciding then just go to King Taco. There are 2 locations by the stadium but they won’t be as good as the taco stands.

Please note that this is a stadium guide that has been written before they remodeled center field. There will be another stadium guide written then but the stadium will not be open until the 2021 season so a new article will be written then.
