The Dodgers will host the Giants for a quick two game series but there’s a lot at stake. The Dodgers can narrow the gap to 1.5 games and the Giants can put 5.5 games between them and the Dodgers.
Giants first to 50 wins
The Giants were the first team to 50 wins in the entire league but the Dodgers are right on their tail. Although the Giants have put an extra 2 games of cushion between them and the Dodgers, only 3.5 games separate them heading into the series. Bauer will be tasked to cool down the Giants, who are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
Bauer is looking to replicate the success he had in his first start against the Giants this season where he went 6.1 innings and only gave up 2 hits and 1 unearned run. He will take on DeSclafani who is having a very good season so far. His ERA of 2.77 will test the Dodger hitters.
Dodgers are starting to feel the pressure
I feel as though every time that these two teams face each other, I ask myself whether the Giants are actual contenders or not. Well I think I can finally answer that. They are. Their 50 win sprint is not a small achievement. In fact, it’s rather spectacular. Would I choose them over the Dodgers over the course of the season or in the playoffs? No, but they are looking to make it very difficult for them.
