The Los Angeles Dodgers will be without Max Muncy for the next few games. He is been put on the 10-day injured list due to a right oblique strain. This comes at a time when it was announced that Max Muncy was leading first basemen in the National League in All Star votes.
Muncy suffering from apparent fatigue
Max Muncy had previously been dealing with a sore ankle recently but both injuries don’t seem to be related. However, that could very well be leading to more time on the IL. At this point, it may be more wise to let him rest a few extra days to getting everything all squared away.
The last thing the Dodgers would need right now is to lose their only 1st place All Star votes getter. Of course, that might mean that Muncy could lose some votes but that’s not on anyone’s priority list. The Dodgers have already gone stints without Seager, May, Gonsolin, Betts, Paddock, and Bellinger so they should be very cautious with Muncy.
Dodgers are set to miss their leading home run hitter
Muncy has hit 14 home runs this year and has a .246 AVG. His 14 home runs lead the team and the 46 walks he’s been able to obtain lead the league. Needless to say, his value is essential if the Dodgers look to take first place from the Giants. But it is definitely too early in the season to start pushing players to go the extra mile.
Roberts has stated that Muncy’s time on the IL could be shorter than expected. Although that is good news in terms of severity of the injury, it doesn’t seem too wise. If anything, the full 10 days should be the minimum in order for Muncy to truly get his legs under him.
