If any team deserved a win on Black Mamba Day, it was the Los Angeles Lakers. They played with the famed Mamba Mentality. The Lakers fought hard for every rebound and loose ball. They ran back on defense and sprinted forward for the fast break. Kobe would have been proud today, on Black Mamba Day.
It is worth noting that the Lakers played with the City Edition ‘Black Mamba’ jerseys in honor of the late, great Kobe Bryant. The game seemed to be settled pretty early. The Lakers just couldn’t miss.
Laker fans will be very happy considering that they are clicking at the right time. Kuzma, who has been an inconsistent player, looked good the entire game. To be honest, everyone on the Lakers looked good.

They scored 80 points in the first half alone. Anthony Davis was also sidelined in the early parts of the 3rd quarter for precautionary reasons. He had reportedly been dealing with some back spasms so the Lakers decided to give Davis some much needed rest.
The Los Angeles Lakers are now in the driver’s seat of their own destiny. They lead the Portland Trailblazers 3 games to 1 so the future is bleak for Portland.
Damian Lillard was also taken out of the game during the 3 quarter after an apparent knee injury. It is currently unclear if he will return for Game 5 but if he is to sit that game out, then the series is all but wrapped up.
However, it could simply be that Portland knew it would be futile to put Lillard back in the game and risk him hurting his knee even more.
It is a clear turn around from how the Lakers were playing in Game 1.
If Portland is able to win Game 5 then things will get interesting. But, for now, Lakers are heading to the next round.
