Max Muncy is without a doubt a fan favorite in Los Angeles. His work ethic and embrace of the Dodgers’ culture has put him at the heart of the Dodgers’ roster. His iconic moments in Dodger Blue have immortalized him in the Dodgers history. In May, he was able to take his game to another level.

Muncy obliterated the Giants in May

Muncy has always played the Giants really well in his career so it is no surprise that he kept that trend going in May when the Dodgers and Giants faced each other 7 times. Muncy entered May batting with a .222 AVG, 3 HRs, and 11 RBIs. It was a rather slow start by anyone’s standards but Muncy is an established player so there was no doubt that he would turn it on. He did it sooner rather than later.

Even after being held hitless in the first two games of the month, Muncy was still able to hit with a .337 AVG. He was able to bring his 2021 AVG all the way up to .281 in the process. He also did a great job getting on base by walking 16 times and having a .452 OBP. What really set his month apart from any other Dodger this month was his home run total.

Muncy puts himself in HR leader conversation

Muncy hit a staggering 10 home runs in May and hit 5 of them in the 7 games against the Giants. His contribution at the plate was essential in the Dodgers going 15-11 in May. While that record might not be immensely impressive, they did string a 12-1 stretch right in the middle of May. While the Dodgers are struggling to find a consistent groove, Muncy has surely found his.

His 13 HRs have also put Muncy in the home run leader conversation. He is only 2 behind the National League leaders and 3 behind the league leader. Max Muncy is The Ventric’s Dodger Player of the Month.
